We recently announced a new contract for a large photovoltaic (PV) power plant project in Cestas, France. The project, which will be completed in collaboration with Eiffage and Krinner, and developed by Neoen, is the largest PV project in Europe.

Our Solar Business will be responsible for the complete electrical conversion chain and manage energy from solar panels to the high voltage grid. We will also supply the services for the complete solution, with guarantees on the equipment availability rate for the next 20 years.

The project, set to come on line in October 2015, will provide a total peak capacity of 300 MW and will generate more than 350 gigawatt-hours a year. Once connected to the grid in October 2015, the project will provide electricity for 105 euros per megawatt-hour over a period of 20 years. According to Neoen’s CEO, Xavier Barbaro, this price is below nuclear electricity in Britain, proving solar’s increasing competitiveness to other energy sources.

For the project, we’ll deliver 200 PV Box RT units (each containing two Conext Core XC central inverters), turnkey high voltage substation, and monitoring and control using Conext Control, along with a dedicated power plant controller. In addition, we will also provide a 20+ year service contract.

We’re excited to be a part of the largest PV power plant in Europe, and we’ll keep you posted as the project progresses!
